An absolute must on a Lofoten trip. We stopped in with Roger on a fishing/fjord day trip. It is perfectly secluded and only accessible by boat and a throw back to harmony with nature. The ambiance was very inviting and the kind of place you can just stay all day and do nothing.

Flott og trivelig plass. Vi var et gjeng med venner som kjøpte oss Hvalkjøtt gryte. Maten var god men vi damer fikk halvparten av hva mannfolkene fikk.jeg sa i fra at dette var alt for lite mat og hvorfor det var så stor forskjell da jeg hadde betalt samme pris. Svaret var at det var handlaget? Da måtte vi damer være sulten til vi kom hjem.

Me and my family where chasing the northern lights this weekend, and everybody knows that Lofoten is a good place for that, we also wanted to find somewhere special to stay.
Luckily we came across Risvaer Island and Risvaer Brygger.
This island is situated at within "Svellingflaket" and it is said that there are as many islands in Svellingsflaket as there are days in the year. Most of the islands are relatively small and flat and surrounded by large areas of shallow water. Here there is a large production of shells and seaweed and other snacks. This is the foundation stone for a bustling bird and animal life both summer and winter.

The swelling flat is an important nesting and wintering area for seabirds. Colony breeders such as cormorants, terns and gulls are the most dominant as they are found in large numbers and can be both loud and approachable during the nesting season. Eiders can be seen in the straits between the islets and flocks of wintering eiders and herring ducks spend the winter in the shelter of the islands.

Roger, the owner of Risvaer Brygger gave us a tour around the Island as well as an indepth historical background on the Risvaer Island and its importance during the 1800 and 1900 century for the Fishermen, But the history starts all the way back in the late 1700s.

The weather was not on or side this weekend, so we got to do a lot of the other activities on top of the Northern lights, We tried out Deep Sea Fishing, Sea Eagle Safari and we actually ended up prolonging our stay until Monday and got the most wonderfull Norhtern Lights Experience, Sunday evening/night.

We highly recommend going to Risvaer, and cannot wait to go back.

Lofoten og Vestfjorden i sol og sommer med en fantastisk Fiskesuppe på Risvær. Stort bedre blir det ikke.
