A wonderful experience in this historic hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They gave great hiking advice.|We enjoyed the excellent breakfast buffet each morning with incredible views of the water and boats. The evening smorgasbord was also delicious. We enjoyed walking throughout the historic rooms on the main floor and enjoyed a game of cribbage one evening in one of the rooms.|The grounds were beautiful and a great place to stroll and take in the views.|Loved our Demi suite. Large and very comfortable with amazing views from the windows and our deck.|We were able to charge our rental right at the hotel which was a plus.|There was no coffee in the lobby for guests. We had to pay at the bar for a cup. Only negative.|Delightful stay!

What a magical place, straight out of a fairytale! We spent one night in this little town of only 2,000 people thanks to ChatGPT 🙂
Not much going on at this time of year, but just walking around and taking in the views was more than enough.

The hotel has two buildings: a modern one from the 70s and a historic one from the 19th century. Since it’s historic, don’t expect modern rooms — everything is preserved and protected — but that’s exactly what makes it so charming. Totally worth spending a night there.

Dinner was excellent, whether you go for the buffet or the 5-course menu. We had the buffet and it was amazing. Great wine selection too, especially the French ones. Breakfast was out of this world, and lunch at the bar — the burger in particular — was sooo good.

We’d definitely come back. I can only imagine how stunning it must be in June or July!

Amazing views from hotel of mountains and fjord. This historic hotel has an elegant charm and delicious food. Plenty of choice for breakfast and dinner and is very popular with the locals. Cheaper rooms can be found in the 1960's block and although slightly dated are very clean and comfortable and do have a certain charm. Our room included a sofa, armchair and balcony with fantastic views. Very good deals for this hotel can be found through Newmarket Holidays, which includes flights, transport to hotel and two intineries.

We can definitely understand why Kviknes Hotel has been voted the most Historic Hotel in the WORLD! With its stately home feel, family history, cozy public rooms and of course views to die for. |Our party of four found the food a very good quality although slightly repetitive.|Our room was clean and cozy with lovely views of the mountains and fjords.|Balestrand is in a beautiful peaceful setting with great hikes.

We stayed in the historic side of the hotel with a fjord view and a private balcony. Overall, the room was nice, but nothing spectacular (aside from the wonderful view). There were a lot of holes in the wall where they’ve had things hanging before and never patched. Our room was directly above a lower level balcony area where people stayed late talking into the evening and could easily be heard in our room.

The dinner buffet and the breakfast buffet were both excellent. There are all sorts of options to choose from and the service in the restaurant area was always excellent.

This is a place we would stay again, albeit only if we got a better deal on the cost.

We booked two nights at this hotel in Balestrand in the Norwegian fjords. It is situated directly adjacent to the ferry dock. We were given a warm welcome by a charming receptionist who completed the check-in process very efficiently. Our room had commanding views over the fjord and was comfortable albeit with limited amenities for a hotel of this calibre (paper cups is not a good look, no minibar or drinking water, etc). There are a plethora of places to sit and relax or have a drink on the ground floor. |The strongpoint of the hotel is the dining room which provides first class catering and world-class views: we tried the buffet on one night and the upgraded four course menu on another evening and both options were excellent. The goat roulade and crayfish courses were particularly memorable and the white chocolate mousse cake is up there in the ‘Best Desserts Ever’ category. The extensive wine carte is reasonably priced by Norway standards. |We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel as a good base in Balestrand.
